How to Modify the Initial Client Task in Client Hub
When a new client workspace is created in Client Hub, an initial client task is automatically added to help guide your client through their first steps. You can customize this task to better fit your firm’s onboarding process.
Follow the steps below to edit the initial client task:
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Go to Setup & Settings
- Click the gear icon in the left-hand navigation menu.
- Select Initial Client Task
Under the Client Portal section in the left sidebar, click on Initial Client Task.
Edit the Task
- You’ll see a preview of the default task message.
- Click the blue Edit button at the top of the task preview.
Make your changes to the content of the task. You can update instructions, add links to resources, or personalize the message for your clients.
Save Your Changes
- After editing, click Save to update the task. Your updated task will now automatically be included in every new client workspace going forward.
Note: This change does not affect workspaces that were created before the task was updated.

- Use a friendly, welcoming tone.
- Provide clear next steps or expectations for the client.
- Link to helpful resources or guides in your Client Hub library.
- Encourage clients to mark the task as done once they've completed it.
