🧾 QuickBooks Online Audit Log: How to Track Changes from Client Hub

QuickBooks Online includes an Audit Log that tracks who made changes, when they were made, and what was changed. When you integrate Client Hub with QuickBooks Online, activity from Client Hub—such as transaction updates via Client Tasks—is recorded and can be identified in the Audit Log.

To clearly see which changes were triggered by Client Hub, we recommend setting up a dedicated user in QuickBooks Online before connecting the integration.

🔍 Why This Matters

  • In QuickBooks Online, edits & updates are logged under the user account used to set up the integration—making it easy to track the source of updates.

👤 How to Set Up a Dedicated “Client Hub” User for Tracking

  1. Add a New Team Member in QuickBooks Online Accountant
    • Create a user named Client Hub
    • Use a generic or newly created email address for this user (e.g., clienthub.integration@gmail.com)

      Assign Access to Client Companies

    • Grant this team member user access to all QuickBooks Online companies you'll integrate with Client Hub
    • Or assign only to specific clients as needed

Connect Using the New User Account

    • When setting up the QuickBooks Online integration in Client Hub, log in using the new Client Hub user’s credentials

âś… Result: Clear Audit Trails

With this setup:

  • Any transaction updates pushed from Client Hub will show in QuickBooks Online’s Audit Log under the Client Hub user.
  • You’ll be able to easily identify changes made through the integration—streamlining audits, reviews, and troubleshooting.
