🔀 How to Reorder Columns in the Clients and Contacts Dashboards
Last Updated: July 2026
If you'd like to change the order that information appears in — whether that's the columns on your Clients Dashboard, your Contacts Dashboard, or the fields on a Client Details page — you can do that from one place: Client Fields and Contact Fields inside Setup & Settings. This article walks you through reordering fields and explains everywhere that change will show up.
📝 Note: Setup & Settings is only accessible to Admin and Subscriber users. If you don't see this option in your left-hand navigation, reach out to your firm's Admin.
⚙️ How to Reorder Fields
- From the left-hand navigation menu, click the gear icon labeled Setup & Settings.
- Under Client Setup, select Client Fields to reorder client-level information, or Contact Fields to reorder contact-level information.
- Find the grab handle (the small icon made of dots) to the left of the Field Name you want to move.
- Click and hold the grab handle, then drag the field up or down to the position you want.
- Release to drop the field into its new spot. Your changes save automatically — there's no separate Save button to click.
📍 Where This Order Shows Up
The order you set here isn't just cosmetic to this settings screen. It also controls:
- The column order on the Clients Dashboard (for fields reordered under Client Fields) or the Contacts Dashboard (for fields reordered under Contact Fields)
- The order fields appear under Client Details on a client's workspace
- The order fields appear on an individual Contact's record
🧠 Tips
- This same screen is also where you add new fields (using the Field Name and Type inputs at the bottom) and delete existing ones (using Delete field), so it's worth a look any time you're rethinking what data your firm tracks.
- Company Name is a required field for every client and can't be deleted, but it can still be moved within the order.
- This reordering ability is currently specific to the Clients and Contacts Dashboards — not every dashboard in Client Hub supports custom column ordering.
