๐Ÿ“Š Using Books Review and Reports with Xero

If your firm connects client workspaces to Xero, you can now use Books Review and Reports to catch data issues early and generate polished financial reports for those clients, with a few differences noted below.


๐Ÿ”— Before You Begin

๐Ÿ“ Note: If you had an existing Xero connection before this update, you may need to reconnect the workspace to grant the new permissions Books Review and Reports require. If a client's Books Review or Reports tab isn't loading data as expected, reconnecting is the first thing to try.

๐Ÿ“– Books Review with Xero

Books Review for Xero-connected workspaces surfaces the following categories of issues:

  • Expense inconsistencies
  • Missing payees
  • Missing attachments
  • Large transactions
  • New accounts
  • New vendors
  • New customers
  • Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss review

For each item, you can:

  1. Review or recategorize the transaction
  2. Add an internal comment for your team
  3. Create a Client Task directly from the item
  4. Run AI Analysis for deeper insight
  5. Open the record directly in Xero

๐Ÿงพ Reports with Xero

Xero-connected workspaces can generate the following core management reports:

  • Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss reports
  • Custom report periods
  • Comparison periods
  • Cash or accrual accounting method
  • AI Insights
  • PDF generation

Once generated, reports can be published to selected Client Users, downloaded, or emailed.


๐Ÿง  Tips

  • If a report or Books Review category seems to be missing data, check that the Xero connection has been reconnected under the new permissions first.
